Hard times.

I read somewhere on the Internet, “Hard times are like a washing machine. They twist, turn, and knock us around, but in the end we come out cleaner, brighter, and better than before.” Right. Try telling that to a guy who has lost his job, his home, and the love of his life.

I could have stopped chasing my dream right then and there and no one would have blamed me. I was broke, both my bank account and my heart. To make things even more difficult, most of the people I knew in Kansas thought I was crazy for going to Hollywood in the first place. Whenever I spoke to them on the phone, a few relatives kept asking me how long was I going to keep “doing that Hollywood thing?” I could have decided my dream was simply a pipe dream. I could have quit and gone back to Moody, become a pastor, and married a nice church girl.

But I didn’t. And I hope that when you encounter hard times, you don’t either.
